The Brigantine Castle was a haunted house attraction on the Jersey Shore that burned down before it was scheduled to be demolished. I started off trying to make an another "ambient' song but it was so horribly boring I figured anyone who listened to it would go into a coma. I added actual sounds from the recordings that played in various parts of the castle during the 70's, some authentic sounds of the northern atlantic and the actual Philadelphia news report about the fire. I started off with a 3/4 march from an old wax cylinder from 1898 and added some snippets from pop culture and history until I built it up enough to morph to 4/4 time for some swing notes. Mix is muddy as hell so I left out the bass and threw in some vocals and morphed it again into a world drone nightmare. Guest appearances by Deadman and Nay Nay on vocals. The last time I did a song that mentioned minimal everyone complained and said it was too busy so I decided to build a song on only two notes. I dumbed down the bassline as much as I could without having a seizure and fought to keep only 2 voices for most of the song. I could not stop myself from adding the synth solo at the end and the piano triads which added another 4 notes. As for the ambient part, I used recent field recordings that I just added to Freesound over an almost drone like... ( 2 reviews ) Topics: minimal, ambient, instrumental, electronica, freesound
